Welcome to The Letting Protection Service Scotland

The Scottish Government is introducing new legislation to protect tenancy deposits in Scotland. This will impact on all Scottish landlords or agents who take a deposit from their tenants for a relevant tenancy as defined in The Tenancy Deposit Schemes (Scotland) Regulations 2011. The deposit must be submitted to a Government Approved Scottish Tenancy Deposit Protection scheme in accordance with the timescales here.

Experience matters

The Scottish Government has approved its first deposit protection scheme, The Letting Protection Service Scotland (The LPS Scotland).

The LPS Scotland will be run by Computershare Investor Services PLC which also operates The Deposit Protection Service (The DPS) and is the only UK-based company with the experience of running a similar custodial scheme. The DPS has been operating in England and Wales for five years and has protected more than 1.7m deposits to date, amounting to more than Ł1.3 Billion.
