End of Tenancy

  • The other party is not contactable / not responding to communications?

If the other party does not respond to your repayment request within 30 working days, the full deposit will be returned to you within 5 working days.

If you still have a question on this matter please email us using the Online Form.

  • What happens if there is a dispute?

The LPS Scotland offers a free evidenced-based Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) service to deal with disputes related to the tenancy deposit. In the event of a dispute the lead tenant must consent to use the ADR service and agree to be bound by the Adjudicator’s decision. For more information on the ADR service please see our ADR FAQ's.

The courts can still be used to resolve disputes if the lead tenant does not give consent to use the ADR service within 30 working days of defining the disputed amount. In these instances, the disputed amount will be returned to the agent/landlord in order for the dispute to be settled outside of the scheme.

If you still have a question on this matter please email us using the Online Form.

  • Can I send you a Court Order for the deposit to be repaid?

If a case has been referred to Court in order for a dispute to be resolved, the deposit will be released to the agent/landlord within 5 working days of us receiving notification from the lead tenant that the case has been referred.

If you still have a question on this matter please email us using the Online Form.
  • Do you provide legal advice?

Our customer service agents are trained to provide help in relation to all LPS Scotland processes and procedures. This includes general advice around evidence submission relating to our dispute resolution service, all of which can also be found in our guide to tenancy deposits, disputes and damages. Our agents are not trained to provide legal advice of any kind and you should seek independent advice if you are unsure about your situation.
